Most media outlets supposed the stalled progress of the 40-mile long Russian military convoy to be caused by logistical problems supplying fuel and spare parts.
It is now understood to be deliberate: parts of the Russian leadership have always looked at the UK with envy, and after seeing the long queues of lorries into Dover since Brexit were determined they could do better.
