I am just coming up to my first anniversary of being diagnosed with type 2. When diagnosed my blood was 19.2. I generally feel really well. I am loosing weight, blood pressure is normal as is cholestrol. I am on 20mg Omeprazole as I have IBS, 80mg Gliclazide and 500mg Metformin.
I had my annual check a few weeks ago and the nurse is very pleased and wants me to reduce the Gliclazide to 40mg. I was feeling so great at the time so after a bit of thought I decided that I better do it.
This was three weeks ago. After a week I started to feel unwell. Dizzy, Sick, loss of appetite, tingling on one small patch on my face and arm. my left leg feels cramped as well. This does come and go but worse at night in my leg. These were the symptoms that I had when I was told to go onto these Gliclazide tablets in June as she said I needed just a bit more help. I even had my first Hypo which went down to 2.8. Not a nice experiance. It then shot up to 13.0 the next day. I now have it stable at around 6.5-7.0. I still have the tingling and fidgeting feet especially at night. I never feel the cold but I do now. It seems to have got worse since the Hypo. I am really worried about developing any side effects. I have gone back to 80mg now as she said I could and I am getting better except these limb problems. They are not severe and it is not pain just funny feelings . The last time I had these the nurse said it was still excess sugar and my body was adjusting still. They did go eventually but it seems a bit worse this time.
Has any body got any words of advice without frightening me!
I am exercising as we don't run a car we walk or ride our bikes everywhere. I just want a good Christmas as last year I was so ill.
I can't see the nurse as it is obviously Christmas.
