IF I can throw the cat among the pidgins here for a second.
As a new guy I been on the reviving end of responses where you can feel the frustration oozing out of them . Some responses are so defensive they come across as hostile some responses and completely dismissive out of hand.
I've only been posting for a couple of week and all I ever seem to do is repeat the same thing over and over again,
I can understand the frustration you must feel repeating the same thing over and over and over again.
Your advice is not listen to.
This one happened to me today( I was like "relay dude" that's exactly what I said to you 8 hours ago)
I can see how that would become so frustrating after any length of time for all of you that have been here helping for any length of time my hat is off to you.
But be aware that this frustration does show in some responses.
Explain it to them like there 5year olds. & Explain it again.(from the beginning)
Just because you have explain this thing a hundred times before dose not mean you don't have to explain it again from the beginning if you choose to engage in a post. Never assume that anyone new knows what your talking about hb1Ac IR PIR NALD LCHF bs to name just a few.
Hell I had to look up what a carbohydrate was when I first started.
Just to leave you with a final thought here are 20 post on this thread and only 3 of them with smiley's.
That's not friendly.
The thing that puts me off responding at times is not the tenor of the discussion but the fear that the OP might be a troll.
Hope your scan results are helpful. You do have a rough time and just keep going. So thats quite in keeping with statistics of friendly and happy people in the world, currently. 1.5%
Of do I meet type2 diabetics?
I think type2 diabetes can be depressing, if accompanied by complications.
My rare high sugars make me jovial, especially today where I celebrated my belated birthday due to a ultrasound scan I needed asap.
Awaiting results in background stress mode.
Always something lately.
Chest pains started all these investigations but swollen tummy doesn't go away either.
Erm, that was me yesterday, and my 'huh' got the better of me, for which I apologise (was trying to support someone but not very well!). I've only ever had wonderful advice, friendly welcomes and patient replies to my usually daft questions and I would hate to think I had put off a member (especially a new one) with a grumpy/sharp reply - again I apologise if that has been the case. All life is here and that is only ever a great thing, with all its nuances of character, situation and viewpoint. Sometimes it's difficult to get the right tone across in just words.*Of course, the flip side of all those readers is that every time we are rude to each other, there are 10s or 100s of people out there flinching and thinking 'huh, what a ******! That was uncalled for...'
Please don't ever let that stop you.
Even if the OP of a particular thread is only on the forum to stir things up, then there are other people reading, some of them too nervous to post, who may well benefit from your helpful response, even if the OP dismisses it out of hand.
I try and bear that in mind the whole time. I mean, the posting population of this forum is a fraction of the overall membership, and then the whole world can read the forum without logging in. If you have a look on the Recent posts page
https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/find-new/67235827/posts
you will see that the number of posts to a thread is always a fraction of the number of views.
For instance, as I write this, this thread has 25 posts and over 500 views. So there are probably a lot more non-members reading it too.
So please, if you feel you can make a contritubution, have at it.
Thanks Brunneria, that’s a perceptive (and a very positive one) that hadn’t occurred to me! Cheers Leeanne
Ohh you silly goose, fear that the OP might be a troll.

Unless they have a mobile phone.Ohh you silly goose,
Trolls live under a bridge they don't have an internet connection.
As well as it should be. You're one of the nicest, friendliest people on the forum, and should anyone be nasty to you I guess they'll have a lot of us to answer to. We won't let anyone be nasty to you and get away with it, Ally!I have had a few comments on my posts that I Don, t agree with their answer but never in a aggressive manner.
Its ok to have differing opinions and even healthy arguments but throw a smiley at the end to show you arguing with the opinion not the person.it is often difficult to convey emotion over text
