Think I'm a bit high fasting blood sugar

Is that 'normal' for you? If not waash your hands again an d test a different area

No I'm usually around 8mmol done re test and it says the same.

Have a look at what you have eaten in the last 24hours. Is you carb intake up? Portion size?

Are you stressed/busy/under time pressure/short of sleep/had bad dreams, this morning?

I find that those things have a far greater effect on my fasting readings than carbs the day before did - but some people find they have no effect. Go figure, eh?

I tend to find lack of sleep combined with a little too many carbs do this to me. Also if you are incubating a virus it can push it up - its the body's way of trying to fight it.

And sometimes there's just no figuring out why your level does that when there's no obvious reason. A friend of mine told me this (she's insulin dependent type 2) and she was right. Don't panic just yet. See how you are tomorrow.

Back of sleep certainly does it for me.

Um...don\t ever fret over any single BG reading unless it's through the roof / or bottom of the floor and you have symptoms of a low). Trends are more important....overall control is more important which is why medical professionals rely more heavily on the lab fasting reading and A1c. Meters can be very inaccurate...+/- 20% and sometimes even more. I took my meter to the clinic with me yesterday...I had the nurse test me with her meter and I tested with mine...same drop of blood...there was a difference of 2.3 mmol/L...that's a significant difference !! Could be a bad strip...bad sample (too little blood)...different batch of strips...any number of things. If your morning numbers are significantly off for a few days then review your eating patterns...your exercise...there's a lot that goes into determining one's BG.
