Hi my name is Bex im 33 yrs old and got diagnosed diabetic yesterday Im still yet to have confirmed what type I am but Im pretty sure it will be type 2 .

I decided yesterday that I am taking this diagnosis as a blessing in disguise I am extremely over weight have been all my life and am taking this as an opportunity to make a permanent change in my life ! and as i am getting married next year it couldn't have come at a better time .
I have already managed to get my bloods down from 18 to 10 in one day as i usually on a normal day drink 2 litres of full fat cola and at least 4 red-bulls so i cant wait to see what effect cutting those out will have on both my weight and blood so watch this space

Hello and welcome. Many of us felt the same as you - that the type 2 diagnosis was the kick up the bum we needed! You may find you have to cut out or reduce a bit more than the sugary stuff though if you are to get your levels right down, but a good start. Well done.

Hi Bex, welcome, great attitude!

Cutting carbohydrates as well as obvious sugars is the way to go to start managing the condition. Have a good read around and ask questions.

Hi and welcome. You may find that by just reducing the carbs (wow 2 litres of full-fat Coke!) that your sugars get back to near normal. Good luck

No better excuse to make that change than getting married, hope you succeed Bex and I wish you and your OH the best of luck for the future

Happy days ! been confirmed as type 2 today after a week on tolbutimide I have bought my sugars down from 18 to between 6-9 feeling awesome sugars and carbs are out of my life along with the energy drinks and coke ! , starting on metformin tomorrow 1 tab a day witch the doc also says will help with my weight loss programme witch so far in 7 days have lost 9lb feeling so positive my family will be sick of me ! ty for kind replies and I wish everyone here the best of luck with their own personal journeys xxxxx
