My first at diagnosis was 72, second was 50 and now I'm down to 37 or 5.5%

Still too low according to my diabetic nurse but hey ho

Well done, you're obviously doing all the right things.

To be honest I'm a pretty bad diabetic, I drink, I eat what I want and eat sweet things a few times a week

I just seem to be really good at carb counting and judging bolus

I do also test at least 7 times a day.

Hi. The NHS plays it far too safe when 'judging' HBa1C results. It does this to avoid those who don't manage themselevs well from going hypo. My DN warned me at my last review as I was 6%. We agreed I knew what I was doing. Diabetics should always aim to get down as close as possible to the average bs for a non-diabeticwhilst avoiding hypos when on insulin or Gliclazide.

It is too low if its at the expense of more hypo's, this is the concern of many HCP's. Well done anyway
