Hi,
It's been mentioned several times on this forum (but I don't know what the evidence is), that your kidneys start filtering glucose out of your blood and into your urine, when your BG rises over 10.5ish.
My experience bears that out - I widdle extra when I go much over 9, but I have doubts about the accuracy of my meter at 9+, so I cannot say for sure.
Regarding the thirst... Well, I find carbs make me thirsty. Particularly bread. It is as if I have eaten a sponge. I drink hugely, blow up with water retention, then wee it all out a day or two later.
In my case, the thirst isn't related to BG, it is just the water retaining quality of grains. Potato has a much smaller effect.
