11 years ago .......
is when it all started , i got type 1 diabetes and i was 16 at the time in my last year at high school and being a lad aswel dont think helped
so as many of you know , there is a honeymoon period of which i still produced a small amount of insulin so i found controlling this god awful condition a breeze
i tested 4/5 times a day , watched everything i ate and drank , dont smoke and drink little alcohol and dont do drugs and i dont drink , smoke or do drugs still to this day
had regular visits to my diabetes centre and this is where it went wrong
they told be to do everything im told and i wont die - just what you want to hear but being 16 i thought i was invincible so they tried using scare tactics which made me rebel even more
so 18 years old crept up fast and now at this point ive heard all the wimsicle storys that a cure is round the corner and things will get better but they all lied ect
my ignorance took over at this point and did my own thing as regards to eating , injecting testing and all thing diabetic related went out of the window
i gave up with the diabetes specialist as theyre full of lies and ceased seeing them
i injected what i wanted as i wanted and thought i was doing fine
no testing - no docters i thought life had returned to normal
it goes wrong at around about 22/23 years old
i had developed ED at about 20 years old but not really seen it as a problem but was aware of its relation to my poor diabetes control
so 22 years old came round and a nice gift of bowel incontinance and constant diaorhea
test upon test came back negative as me have any issue inside so it was then linked to my poor diabetic care
laperomide is what i have to take daily for rest of my life also known as imodium
that was my first major mistake
the next one YOU should all take note - there is no excuse as i now know for not doing youre insulin
i regularly mised my insulin and if i ever felt majorly poorly i would test and got ussual readings of 20-30
i knew it was critical but didnt really care
around 2 years ago around christmas i noticed my eyes were getting hazey and driving became more difficult
ive ignored all leters about gloucomer and eyetests which could have saved me
it turned out that my eyes had bled and with laser surgery it stopped all progression
only for a while though
all treatment fail and it then lead to major eye surgery which down the line ment i had 2 victorectimys which is quite bad so im told
my right eye failed and my retina fell off which now means im 98% blind in that eye
at one point i was completely blind but the operation was succesful as you can see im using a laptop ect
the problem is that the nurses used scare tactics to try and educate me and it very clearly didnt work but the only person to actually do anything about is me
well thats my story
most not all but most docters are liers and are corrupt - and thats my theory
