I was diagnosed T2D in May 23 - with a HBA1C of 80
Put on: Metformin, a statin and Canagliflozin.
I adopted a very low carb/sugar diet and managed to bring my HBA1C down to 36 by late August.
The Diabetes nurse cut my Metformin in half and said we'd look again at my meds if I kept the HBA1C below 40 in November.
Pretty confident I'll still be below 40, and hopeful that this will mean coming off most, if not all of my meds. There's been plenty of chat on here about Metformin and also Statins and the doubtfulness around their use.
I've not heard much chat about Canagliflozin though? Reading up on it, there's evidence that it's a useful tool in bringing down blood glucose and in losing weight. I dont believe I'm suffering ill effects. Curious to know other peoples experiences and thoughts around it. Of course I'll be speaking with my nurse about it - but I get an audience once every 3 months for about 10 mins, so I'd like to go into the meeting well equipped.
