I've just read in the diabetes news section that a bionic pancreas, being developed in the USA is set to be available in late 2017.
I'm almost afraid to be excited about this as it seems too good to be true
Thoughts?

I did a lot of reading on this last night and while I think it's incredibly exciting I also have my concerns. I think for me...as a non-pumper...I hate the idea of being connected up and having the decision making taken out of my hands...although I can also appreciate that it can make far better decisions and achieve far better results than I ever could.

I also read a few scare stories in terms of 'the perfect murder' with the potential for hackers to access the system and alter the settings...while I doubt this is really a major concern and there are ways around it...I think the system will benefit from a few more years of studies and research...hopefully by 2017 this will be done and I will have time to come round to the idea.

Ultimately though...this is a life changing piece of kit...and very exciting
