Thrombocytopenia and diabetes Type 01

What is Thrombocytopenia (means lower blood platelets) and what it has to do with diabetes Type 01? I just made some blood tests and the platelets count is getting lower and lower in my blood, so what is that and how would it affect me? also why is it related to diabetes?
