Thyroid Testing

I've read so much on here about Thyroid testing and what your Thyroid is, as I've never heard about it at all. To any who knows, can I ask for a test in with my annual HbA1c as I've never had a Thyroid test before.

Also do you get Thyroid symptoms if your sugars are not controlled very well?

If you think you have a thyroid problem your doctor can order the test as its just a blood test. This will find out if your levels of the different hormones are normal or high or low. I dont know if you can get it done at same time as HbA1c as it might need to goto the labs.

Both sustained high or low blood sugars can affect thyroid functions such as weight gain, high blood pressure an cholesterol for high sugers. Sustained low blood sugars have affects on the thyroid that cause things like response of insulin to highblood sugar,
Also the clearance of insulin from the blood.

Hi KieranP are you under paediatric section as my son is 15 and gets a thyroid test and urine test can't remember what urine is for every year. If you are under adult section I am sure you can ask for this to be done.
