Type 1 Time for lantus?

Hi everyone

A quick question. When i was first diagnosed i was taking my long acting insulin at night but due to exercise in the evening i was having a few lows throughout the night so my diabetic nurse changed it to lunchtime. I met with the consultant this week and she would like me to change it to the morning which is fine Mon- Fri but what if i sleep in longer at the weekend?

There's some flexibility around the time of taking lantus, it shouldn't really matter if your within an hour or so of your regular time, when I last used it I would inject it around 6pm but some nights it might have been 7 or 5pm depending on what I was doing on the day, it was the same when I took lantus before bed and experimented taking the dose when waking in the morning.

If you tend to sleep quite late on a weekend then I'd check with your Consultant/DSN what you should do.

Hi I was on lantus and it didn't help my blood sugars come down far enough but it is only a 24 hour insulin. I have been put into a new one which has a 36 hour window which is a lot better in the fact my BS have started to really improve. They only advice I can say is to ask your consultant about Tresiba it's very expensive so a lot of doctors don't want to give it out, you can ask they can say yes or no lol but apart from setting an alarm which really isn't good. Hope I might of helped but couldn't give advice on the lantus.

Hello! I take my lantus in the morning but I don't panic if I don't do it the same time every day :) it's not too much of a big deal
