Time to get real

Afternoon all

I think I've reached that pivotal moment and realised that I need a kick up the ****!

Diagnosed with T2 about 5 years ago and never really kept in under control for any period of time.

I had a Hba1c which came out at 118 (I think). It converted to about 12.3%. This was after 3 months of taking nothing.

When I was diagnosed, I was 93kg and the doctor told me I needed to get down to 75kg. I laughed at him at the time but I'm now about 72kg. I'm assuming that because my T2 is badly out of control that it's like being on an enforced Atkins diet.

Any road up. I tried insulin but the night time hypos did my head in. I've persuaded the nurse to let me try Metformin for 3 months to see how that goes.

I suffer from depression and that doesn't help my regime. I probably sleep through the night 2 nights a week. The rest I wake up and get up for between 1 and 3 hours from around 1.00am. I don't know if this is habit or because my sugar is high.

So, this is day one, I guess.

Hi Andy. I'm a relative newbie but just wanted to say welcome and I wish you well! I'm struggling myself at the moment as I am suffering from a very low mood :(
