Just still a newbie with type 1 for 6 months. Next month for the first time flying to different timezone. Off to Asia for 4 months. So here is a calculation to be done regarding Timezone/Insuline where I need advise. Taking 12 unit Lantus at 20.00 pm. My flight leaves Helsinki to Singapore at 23.55 pm. Arriving local time Singapore 17.00 pm( 6 hours later then helsinki local time). Do I continue to take 12 units at 20.00 pm local time ? Then it seems I take too much within 24 hours.(day is then 6 hours shorter) . Or reducing Lantus before departing ?? Thanks for any mathematical help for this problem

Of course your body doesn't know which time zone it's in. If it were me, I'd set a timer on my phone so I knew when to inject. If they're 6 hrs ahead and you normally inject at 20:00, it seems like you would try to inject at 2:00 the following day (6hr time zone factor).

Again, if it were me, that's what I'd be doing

As you are going for a significant period and a big time zone difference, you'll want to move it to 8pm local time. You could take it 2 hours earlier each day for a few days until it's at the right time. So take it 8pm Helsinki time before you travel, then at midnight Singapore time (22 hours later), then the next day at 10pm Singapore time, and finally 8pm the day after. Lantus lasts about 18-24 hours so you would only have a small overlap in the evening - you could maybe have a snack if you were worried about going low.
