Tingling in fingers

Hello, I’ve recently been diagnosed with diabetes with an hba1c of 48.

I’ve taken immediate steps to change my diet and my blood sugars are now much lower every time I test.

however, since I’ve lowered my BS levels I’ve got tingling in my fingers. Has anyone else has this? Could it be a sign my blood vessels are damaged?
Many thanks

Hi, welcome to the forums. Well done on starting to make the changes you need. You could see improvements really quickly.

My experience was that I had a fairly large number of diabetic symptoms well before reaching the 48 level (I have a list on my blog if you're curious). This isn't surprising, as the 48 level was originally supposed to be a sort of a backstop: it quickly became the gateway point, unfortunately.

Once my BGs returned to normal levels almost all the symptoms went away. I did get some new ones (eg sticky mouth) after I was back in normal range, so I think it's possible that some of the impact of high BGs takes time to work through.

I still have some residual tingling in my feet, every so often, but it's not painful any more, and I've been back in normal range for over two years. If you're the same, you might expect the tingling not to get any worse and it could reduce.

Best of luck.
