It's doing my head in.
it is loud tonight.
Not a lot more to say..

:(
Have you seen the fat emperor interview with Kraft? It is called 'the father of the insulin assay' I think.

In it, he links tinnitus to insulin resistance.

Not really much help telling you that, I am afraid, unless your tinnitus rises and falls in time with carb intake and insulin resistance...

You have my every sympathy. I too have tinnutus but our health authority gave me a small in ear gadget that suppresses the tinnutus with white noise (look on internet). It has helped me tremendously.

I hope it abated for you

You have my sympathy, too, @hankjam. I don't have tinnitus, but my dad used to suffer from it and I well remember how some days it used to drive him crazy. He used to be able to deal with it for a period of time, but then the cumulative effect would kick in and it would really test his sanity for a while. Big hugs x

I have every sympathy with you, I have had Tinnitus for over thirty years now cased by my time in the Air Force and damage to the auditory nerves both ears my doctor told me once that even if I went totally deaf the tinnitus would not be effected hate it, it never stops.

@debrasue Thank you for this. It is something that comes and goes with me and I have absolutely no idea what affects it. I do find listening to talk radio, as opposed to music, does help distract.... but sometimes getting to sleep can be a real challenge... :)

I remember my dad having the same problem with getting to sleep, especially if the room was very quiet. And then, of course, you get frustrated and stressed, and that makes it even worse. He often used to switch the radio off-channel to get the 'white noise' sound when it was particularly bad, and that seemed to help, as did the whirring of a fan in the summer. My dad also felt that coffee made it worse.

Might try giving the coffee a miss for a while and see what happens.... cheers Hj

I have suffered from it too for nigh on 50 years since I worked on a Saturday in a local newspaper press room without ear protectors (well it was the sixties). About 5 years ago my GP prescribed hearing aids and they have made a huge difference to both my hearing and the Tinnitus.

@plantagenet , thank you for your response. I've been mulling it over since I read it.
I would be interested to know a bit more about your hearing aids. I got some NHS ones. They don't fit that well, especially in one ear. I found the sound really difficult to adjust, I could suddenly hear things from across the room, like I was snooping... and I wear clogs at work and boy the amp on them is impressive... so I sort of lapsed..
but would be happy to give them another go, don't have any hang ups about ear pieces...
and the Tinni really not too much fun at the moment.
Cheers
Hj

They are basic Oticon behind the ear aids. I use the small domes, I couldn't get on with ones that look like those things dogs wear round their necks to stop scratching, they were quite painful. I had a couple of sessions with the audiologist at the local NHS trust to get them adjusted to suit my hearing and it took a while to get used to them, but once I did I found that I could hear the conversation I am involved in, so much better even when there is a lot of background noise, at the same time I began to stop noticing the tinnitus. It does intrude sometimes but nowhere near as much as before. Another plus, if you don't want be disturbed you can turn the volume right down. :-) Hope that's of help, let me know if you need anything more.

Thank you for your reply.
I'll get off my backside and make the appointments.
Cheers
