Hi everyone,

I would be interested in hearing from other people about a problem that I assume many people have a battle with besides me. My sugar always tends to spike during the early morning and the first few hours after breakfast, regardless of what I eat or whether or not I eat at all. I did take Victoza for a short while and it controlled this, but since I stopped taking Victoza - because of the stomach trouble it gave me, had no choice but to stop - my BS always soars and then eventually comes down again by the afternoon. This causes me acute discomfort because of the constant need to go the bathroom. My dietician suggested having a small snack before going to bed - slice of bread with something on it - to avoid the early morning spikes but it doesn't always work. I take Amaryl 3mg, and Onglyza in the morning and Actos in the evening for insulin resistance. I have begun - somewhat reluctantly - taking an extra 2mg Amaryl before evening meals to given an extra impetus to my insulin production in the evening.

Any tips and ideas would be appreciated.

thanks,

Hi Ellis,

I will bump your post up for some replies.

Some people find a small protein snack help with the dawn phenomenon and there are people who are more carb intolerant in the mornings.

I had bad stomach problems when I started on Victoza. However It was the metformin that caused the problems, metformin and Victoza together had a reaction but since I stopped the metformin I'm no longer having problems

Type 2 diagnosed 24/01/2013.
Novomix 30, Victoza, metformin 2000mg sr (but not taking them as they play havoc with my insides,
