I am a type 1 diabetic and have been for the last 3 years. I'm always tired even when my blood sugars are normal does anybody else get this as I'm sleeping most of the day and night x

I'll bump your post up for a reply from other Type1s.

Have you had your thyroid function checked? Extreme tiredness can have many causes anaemia and underactive thyroid being two of them.

Thanks and are they serious? Xxx

They are treatable, have a google about Thyroid conditions, I got my information from the library when my 7 year old was having 'tiredness problems' went to see our GP and she had blood tests and was borderline, so no medication :)

Good luck RRB

You shouldn't feel tired with type 1 diabetes, especially if your diabetes is well controlled, as others have said go see your gp and ask for blood tests to determine the cause.

Can be treated and corrected via GP meds and advice .
I felt million times better once started on thyroxine meds .
Got my energy and zest back on track again .

Prior to this - was sleeping the days away !

Now have my thyroid function test TFT done three times a year .
This way my GP can keep eye on this .

Lack of vitamin D can also affect some persons .
I was well below the acceptable level .50
Came in at 23.7 - so use vitamin D supplements to keep my
levels much improved .

I'm a type 1, have been for 18 years almost and I'm tired ALL the time. But my iron levels in my blood are perfect, just think it's part of being a young adult haha!
