I'm tired. Sitting here in the office worried about the neuropathy I've started to experience and having just had a public meltdown. I can't self-medicate with food and I haven't developed other ways of dealing with stress yet. I'm tired of dealing with this alone. Does anyone have any tips?

@Vezz I think your question is worthy of a thread of its own and I feel awful for you. Office environments are awful for food and people issues. I'd think of the stuff other than food lthat you love and obvs feel free to check in here when you can.
Are you getting support for your neuropathy? It's something that scares me as my Dad had it and had to have his toes amputated. I loved him dearly and only found out at the end that he had end stage liver disease.

Are you on one of the forums where you list your blood sugar. That can be great for accountability and support?

@Vezz - I agree with @ellesangel on this - it's a topic in it's own right..

By own sense is that we (as Diabetics of all types) tend to focus on control of Blood Glucose, because it's the thing we can measure, but we should be thinking much more, if you like, one step prior to the amount of glucose in the bloodstream right now.. so a much broader look at the things that affect blood glucose; Diet is clearly one of those, reducing sugar and starch, but also important is Stress and Sleep - and there are definitely things that anyone can do to help with both (and any improvement you can make to your sleep quality and lower stress will help with diet adherence, so it becomes a virtuous cycle).

Personally, I think sleep is the thing that matters most that we give least priority to - but it's a big topic, and not what you asked about...

Stress, again, personally, I started to learn to meditate at the start of the year - I'd just had too many recommendations to keep ignoring. I can only say that I've been amazed at the difference it makes - and just how wrong all my assumptions about what meditation is, and what it does for you.. I can't recommend it enough. Just 10 mins in the day, but as a routine it's the most valuable 10 minutes each day that I have..

I keep a list in the notes on my phone of some things that can help lift my mood.
I keep it as a list as when feeling down it can be difficult to think of anything positive. This way I can have a quick look when brain won't work.

It includes things like:
Go for walk.
Bop around to music
Play favorite music
10 minutes in a chair with a cup of tea and a magazine
Call a friend
Volunteer (amazing how helping others helps me!)
A cup of tea made in my special tea pot (reserved usually for special occasions)
Listen to mindfulness app
Exercise/movement
Try listening to new radio station
Give myself a mini pedicure
Ditto manicure
Punch a pillow
Do a random act of kindness
Write a letter
Walk a dog (borrowed!)
Tell someone how you're feeling
Etc etc
Make your own list of what you like!
