Hello, and welcome to the forum. 60 years is an impressively long time.

There could be so many reasons why you're feeling tired, almost every thing that goes wrong with the body has tiredness as symptom. You might want to tell us more about the issue.

Here are a couple of suggestions to start things off.

Coenzyme Q10 might be an option, as long as you aren't taking any medicines that it messes with, you can google that. It's very important for energy.

We tend to make less as we get older, anyway, and it's more of a problem for people with diabetes, because those high blood sugars use up our antioxidants fast. We also tend to have less vitamin C for the same reason.

I assume you get thyroid tests regularly at the hospital with blood tests.

Other people may have better ideas.

Vitamin deficiencies are a good starting placing. People with diabetes can have a problem with B12 too. Or magnesium.

Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms are listed as tiredness, and weakness, which may fit, but I don't know how that manifests itself. I think you'd need to see a doctor on that one, can apparently people with diabetes can have absorbtion issues or something, and it's a serious problem.

Is your blood pressure o.k as if it is on the low side this can effect on energy and feeling tired, the hot weather could also be making you feel tired as if you are going to the gym. You may not be taking enough fluid on board to cope with the weather and the gym but a call to a diabetic nurse or a quick check up at the doctors will not do any harm.

Have you been taking Metformin, by any chance, although I note you are type 1? Metformin is one of the medications that can have an effect on absorption of Vit B12. There are other medications that are linked with Vit B12 deficiency. Also, as one gets older, your chances of having less stomach acidity is increased, which also has an effect on B2.

Having said that, Iron, Folate, Vit D, Thyroid levels that are low can present with very similiar symptoms.

Unfortunately, it seems Health Care Professionals, including doctors, seem to know very little about this so you may not get more than a general check from your GP. However, maybe ask your GP to check all these and then be sure to get a copy of the results, not accepting 'normal' etc.

On a personal note, I'm Vit B12 deficient although my GP said I wasn't, so wouldn't treat me. I'm now self-injecting (GP is aware) and am very much better in energy, mood, motivation and ability etc. Interestingly, my GP, and another GP I see, has noticed the huge change so I'm hoping they might start looking into deficiencies in these Vitamins a bit and take them a bit more seriously.
