To test over Christmas or not?

I will test over Christmas but mainly out of curiosity just to see how things are going, because I like Christmas pud and mince pies and Christmas cake and all that goes with Christmas but after the holiday it will be back to very low carb or keto for me.

The posts by @Rachox and @Brunneria, have given me a timely reminder. That foggy brained , lingering ,soporific feeling is just not worth the hassle for me. Plus, I no longer like the taste of traditional Christmas ‘treats’. Thankfully I can treat myself with decent red wine, and a tot or three of rum.
Cheers.

I’m going to do much the same. I have some Naughty stuff but plan to moderate, so 1 Yorkie rather that 3 etc. It’ll be tough but after the year we’ve all had, frankly I just need to unwind a bit

Thank you all. I like the idea of testing out of curiosity. Its seems a nice position between "having to" and "not knowing until its too late"

It’s a good idea if it’s something new or more carby than usual. I like trying out foods that I used to eat for example I had 2 dates yesterday (approx 25g carbs) which I haven’t had since being diagnosed in 2012 and decided to test to see the affect which is as follows:
21.00 hrs - 6.6 (first bite)
21.40 - 6.5
22.00 - 6.3
23.00 - 7.5
23.30 - 7.0
FBS at 6.30 this morning was 5.4
I’ve decided that I can now eat small portions of dates however whether or not I would want to is a different matter because I found them very, almost too, sweet!!

I just ate my chocolate Santa, he was in the refrigerator, didn’t wait for him to thaw. I just gnawed on him ravenously until he was gone. Should I test?

Ultimately the decision is yours - I sometimes test out of curiosity. However if you’ve any more Santas lurking in the fridge by testing you will be able to see what effect they are likely to have on your BS and you can make a decision as to whether or not to eat them as well or, as it’s Christmas, just enjoy them and revert back to your normal diet in a couple of days.
