i was trying to do a DIY ingrowing toenail the other night and the scissors slipped and jabbed the front of my big toe , I immediately put the tap on it and then dried it , put some savalon and some padding and tapped it.
I went to the district nurse today and she said I did all the right things with the care after it happened . She said it had not gone deep and seemed to say it would be 50/50 if it would become infected. I'm off to the podiatrist tomorrow for some more TLC.
I understand foot wounds especially on the sole can be dangerous to say the least but I'm unclear and have received mixed messages about the healing of foot wounds , how do you know if their is nerve damage in the feet which prevents normal healing even if your BS are good and you have got yourself into the normal weight for your height and size ?

It's not nerve damage that prevents normal healing, it's the damage to blood vessels - but that should not be present if you have good control (i.e. even if you had it, it's easily reversible). Nerve damage is also reversible, but can take a long time, and the danger is that because of it you won't feel a problem on your foot (a cut, scrape, blister), so it can flare up and become much worse before you realise what's going on.

So you should be healing just fine! :) Just keep taking good care of it, and your BG levels. Hope you're better soon!

Thx , I've got a seasonal bug which started before this , which of course I am attributing to the cut , typical . And due to work and wife stress I havnt had the best of sleeps recently , your comments have put things only prospective as I am normally around 5 BS in the morning but was 5.8 this morning , sleep is so important , plus we have a mouse in the house which was scratching away last night and woke me up.
