Toffees, Bread, Rice and Jelly

This week after seeking advise on my diet from members of the forum, I tries brown rice for the first time (I know its still carbs) but I am assuming better than white rice and I can honestly say it was really nice. I am also a bit of a bread eater and therefore went for less bread and used the soya/linseed stuff when I did have some and it too was really nice. Yesterday to assuage my sweet tooth I tried sugar-free jelly and am now a fan and some Werthers (sugarless sweets), not too bad. For the last couple of months, 8 to 10 months after diagnosis, I have for some reason been hacked off with food and the fact that these things are very bad for me but now I can see there are other options.

Absolutely. And if you're at all handy in the kitchen, or have a partner who is, look on the low carb forum for some of the chocolate treats you can make. I have a permanent supply of "almost bounties" in the freezer from a whitbyjet recipe. Can buy stuff too, I get treats from the low carb megastore online, including low carb tortilla wraps (mama lupez) Not everyone's cup of tea, but I like this stuff and have things like Atkins daybreak bars. When I do buy online, I get lots to make the fixed postage worthwhile!

Thanks for that Grazer. Will spend the next few hours looking at low carb snacks (wasn't aware there was a Mega store

I know just how you feel when you say you were hacked off with food. I do still get some of that now, it sometimes feels like the same old same, old stuff we're eating day in day out. This week I'm hacked off with eggs, and we have some many that need to be eaten, and ten or so being laid every day. I went out a bought a bunch of second hand low carb recipe books, and I need to explore those more for variation. It's also very inspirational to read the Low Carb Recipes thread on here - there's always something new to try and you can advice about carb content etc too.

I'm going up to Northants to visit my parents at Jubilee weekend, so I'm hoping to visit the Low Carb Mega Store then - I must check the opening hours - and come back laden with goodies. EDIT; Scrap that plan, just found out it's a warehouse, not a shop. Dang!

Just looked at all those boiled sweets. Will be £30 - £40 worse off this month as have packed in the fags so need to occupy myself

Grazer, cut those wraps into eight and fry them. One of the things I had to stop buying because I couldn't stop at one.
