If you put the tofu between kitchen paper to draw out a much water as possible ( I weigh mine down with a pan on top to get more out) then cut the tofu into cubes and fry in a little oil ( I use rice bran oil) you can make crispy tofu - I have it with some home made teriyaki or chilli sauce with eith salad or stir fried veg. Needs to be firm not silken tofu
I also like silken tofu whiz zed up with something like Splenda, raspberries, toasted almonds and vanilla or lemon

Drain it like the previous poster said then make a light batter with brown rice flour or soya flour, serve with a dip of choice x

Head to your local chinese supermarket and get some dep-fried tofu. I slice it up and stir fry it in sesame oil until it goes crispy - it is GREAT in Thai Green Curry, or Chinese Curry.

It'll come in a clear bag (they usually make it on the premises) and will look like this:

The outside is kinda crispy (and delicious!) and the inside is light and fluffy, with a nice bite to it.

I'd love to know how to make a kind of batter from deep-fried tofu. If you could get the outside coating of deep-fried tofu on a cicken breast, you have a PERFECT, lo-carb (very low carb) southern fried chicken replacement.

Baked Kentucky Fried tofu!

This tastes as close to KFC as I've found!

Minutes to Prepare: 10
Minutes to Cook: 30 ish!

Ingredients-

Tofu (works with chicken just as well but increase baking time by another ten mins.)
1 Tbsp sea salt
1 cup brown rice flour (soya flour works too)
1 tbsp. pepper
2 tbsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 1/2 tsp. ground mustard
1 1/2 tsp. ground thyme
1 1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 Tbsp. ground ginger
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup rapeseed oil

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In shallow bowl, mix all dry ingredients together. Heat large pan with rapeseed oil. Dip each tofu piece in egg then into spice mixture; coat well.

Add to the pan and brown on both sides. Remove to paper toweling to drain oil. Place on baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

Lick me..
