Hi, did anyone see the Tonight programme last week?
My partner has Type 2 diabetes and we are about to start the 8 week eating plan that was featured on the programme tomorrow starting with 2 days of water only. I am embarking on this with him in order to give him support (although I do need to lose a few stones too!)
My question is, should he still keep on taking his medication i.e. metformin even though he won't be eating any food as such? He thinks he shouldn't take it and i don't think he should stop taking it.
Has anyone else done this eating plan and if so can you answer my question please
Many thanks
Jan
I personally have watched programme u refer to and there are a lot of comments on this forum about it.
My concern for doing water for 2 days etc... Is this...
Diabetes is not an illness for dieting.. Its an illness that needs a lifestyle change for the majority....
The ITV programme did not give any details of any substance to give diabetics an improved lifestyle change for better health.
I hope you get some positive responses from people trying it from this forum, however... Do consider lowee carb, higher fat and more exercise as a permanent lifestyle change for improved health n wellbeing.
The diet product used by the original study is "Optifast", though members here have used other products. As well as the 3 meal replacement shakes per day, the diet also calls for a serving of vegetables with 1 tbsp of olive oil (to prevent gallstones): http://www.optifast.com.au/
