I've suffered from clinical depression since I was 16 and to cut a very long story short taking x lot for it and had no end of therapy, I've quite severe neuropathy in my feet and was prescribed Carbamazapen for it about 2 yrs ago I'm now up to 1000mg a day my feet have eased at the moment but my mood has become very childlike to the extent I think the wife and kids are getting fed up a bit. I've always been game for a a laugh and I don't particularly want to sink deep into thoughts that trouble me. Any advice to this problem would be welcomed :-))

Carbamazepam is an anticonvulsant and is used for epilepsy. Other uses are neuropathy and Trigeminal Neuralgia (severe facial pain). It has off label uses for psychiatric disturbances and mania or aggression. Maybe it is interfering with your moods and I would ask your GP for a review. I have had it for facial neuralgia and it don't half make you drowsy. Hope this helps.

Hi, if you are looking for a natural alternative for neuropathy, I've heard thatmany of the B vits are important and alpha lipoic acid and evening primrose oil too. I like coconut oil for its healing powers and rub into my feet. I would look at trying these as possible alternatives to the medicine

Not had any problems with the drowsyness I'm seeing my GP on the 8-1-15 so I will discuss it with her I'm not complaining as it makes a change being smiley but it's the others I'm thinking of :-(

Hi @masonbason63
Ask your wife if this is how you behaved prior to your depression. Sometimes we forget how we used to be after having that black cloud hanging over us.
It could also be that your meds need a review and a smaller dose might get you on an even keel.
I'm glad you are over the worst.

Yes tweety pie Vit B complex is essential for the nervous system especially Thiamine Vit B1. However paradoxically too much B6 can damage nerves
