I'm pretty new and am currently low carbing and losing weight to reduce my BG. I have (under supervision) reduced my Levir from 10 units to 3 over the last few weeks and am 2 weeks into Victoza 1.2. My readings are almost all in the 5's.
Have just taken my BG before bed and am 4.4. Have just eaten a couple of small low carb coconut biscuits and going to test again in 15 mins.
A bit spooked at going to sleep now. I'd there anything else I should do or should I just go to sleep?
Hi Lemonie, I don't low carb, so I don't know if this will help, I always keep a pack of dextrose tabs next to the bed, I've just tested and am 6.4 so I am having a cup of tea and two rich tea biscuits before I go to bed. I prefer to go to bed on about 7.5 that's usually a good number, but even then sometimes end up with a hypo at 3am. Good luck, sleep well
I would recommend trying to get a little more CHO into you if you can... 10-15g if possible. I don't know a lot about the low-carb diet but that sugar level is pretty low to go to sleep on.
Thanks for the replies. Have just had a bowl of Greek yoghurt with sweetener, a sprinkle of Lizi's granola and a few blueberries. Will test again in 15 mins.
Customer helplines that use recorded menus that promise to put me through to the right person but never do - and being ill. Oh, and did I mention customer helplines :)
Hi Lemonie, I think you did the right thing with the wholemeal toast, it is best to have complex carbs to raise bg levels at times like bed time as the more complex carbs will work over a longer period so wholemeal bread with butter sounds ideal to me
