Recently prescribed with Toujeo to replace solarstar I was taking previously. It is supposed to improve night time hypos (something to do with it being more concentrated).
So far it doesn't seem to have made much difference to my control however I have noticed I have had to start taking more fast acting insulin (novorapid) with food.
Anyone else on Toujeo / have any thoughts or observations?
No I haven't done a basal test however nothing else has really changed in terms of my lifestyle. I was initially on 20 for solarstar and when I switched over I was told to reduce to 16, which was definitely not enough so I went back up to 20 units. Starting to wonder whether 20 units isn't enough for the Toujeo?
Yes, to help reduce night time hypos. I don't go to sleep with my sugars below about 12 as otherwise I cannot get through the night without a hypo. if I went to bed any lower than 12 I would struggle to wake up normally/ without the help of my partner. Still a bit fearful of allowing it to be lower than 12 although have got it down to about 8 now, but still wake up at about 3 even then.
I will have to do some research...ashamed to say I'm not 100% sure what is involved basal test but perhaps this is the best next step. Many thanks for your help.
