I am a recently diagnosed type 1 and I have got a trip planned to Vietnam for a month and Cambodia for 2 weeks, what are peoples experiences with carrying around needles etc and the language gap?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Haven't been to the countries you're going to be but my main piece of advice would be to make sure you get a letter from your doctor saying that you are a diabetic and you need to carry needles. This can be an issue at customs, so make sure you have the letter and so can prove that your needles have a medical purpose! The only the other thing I would say is be aware of the difference heat can make to your bs levels - I went to India 2 years ago and it was so hot that my insulin requirements went right down, fortunately I managed to avoid any severe hypos but it's worth testing frequently to keep an eye on things. And most of all have a wonderful time :)

I live in the Philippines and was diagnosed T2 about a year ago. There is no problem buying my meds ( well cost, I have to pay all ). However you can readily buy sterile one off needles, at most pharmacies, at a realatively low cost. I don't use insulin, but obviously it is available. Just know what you need and you will be OK. You will be surprised at what you don't need a prescription for.
Enjoy your trip.
