Hi, could anyone recomend a reasonable cheap travel insurance company for covering T1 please, also I am going away in July, and I know that you have to have a letter from the doc to allow pens on the plane, but what do I do with spare pens, needles and sharps box? Can I put them in the main case or take them in hand luggage, sorry I am new to this, diagnosed T1 in April, so still getting my head around it all :(

Hi
I take all my mess on the plane. Sharps box in the main luggage. I have been 2 times since being diagnosed and it was fine I took 3 of each and they were cool at the airport.
I use Lloyds insurance bundle really good covers t1 as standard.
Don't forget to take a copy of your repeat prescription depending on where your going and for how long.
Hope thus helps

Hey :) you definitely can't put your insulin in your suitcase that's going in the hold as it will freeze. I just split everything between mine and my boyfriends hand luggage, that way if a bag goes missing you have some spare in the other bag. I take a letter with me from the doctor incase I have any hassle with having my needles in my bag but I've never been questioned about it. It's something the security staff see on a daily basis. Enjoy yourself :)
