Hi There. I am new to this website and am the mother of a newly diagnosed Type 1. My son is 19 and, having been diagnosed only two months ago, he is planning a trip to Thailand and Vietnam, leaving the UK in 3 weeks time. Does anybody have any experience of travelling through these countries? Specifically, are there clinics / hospitals where he can buy more insulin should his become ineffective or get lost / stolen? He uses Lantus SoloStar and NovoRapid pens. Thanks a million.

Can't guarantee that they'll have all the answers but the Diabetes UK Care-line might be able to help or point you in the right direction, here is their contact info:

Hope your lad enjoys his trip and stays safe.

That is so kind of you. As you can tell, I am a Very Worried Mother. I don't want him to go away just yet but cannot stop him so just need to help him be as safe as possible. I love the Chinese proverb. I am a teacher and will be quoting that to my pupils! Thank you.
