Hiiiii,

Has anyone travelled with a large amount of diabetes supplies (insulin, needles, test strips) from the UK to another country?

I’m looking to find if there are likely to be any restrictions to the amount you can leave the country with (from airport) and do I have to have any form of documentation apart from the usual ‘insulin has to be in hand luggage etc) letter?

Also if anyone has entered any specific countries with a large amount will I have the same problem? I’m going to Canada for several months so I’m looking to research all this in advance.

Many thanks

As long as you only take the amount you need to cover the period that you’re away for that’s ok. So if your away for 3 months and take 6 months or a years supply they may have an issue with it. You do not need any doctors letter but just take a copy of your prescription with you. Keep all your medicine with you. There have been many stories of people’s luggage going astray and they do not have access to medication when required.

Put your insulin in one of those flask type things so it maintains the correct temp.
