I was looking at the TV guide this evening for something to keep me entertained for an hour or two, and just happened to pick the film First Do No Harm (1997) about a family with a young son who was epileptic, and followed their experiences and his hospital (mis)treatment with drugs before his mum finally discovered and enrolled him in the John Hopkins 3 year ketogenic diet treatment program. Not exactly the light entertainment I was hoping for as it was something of a tear jerker, but completely fascinating and in some ways a bit of an eye opener although I've been aware for most of my diabetic LCHF/ketogenic journey about this form of diet as a recognised long term treatment for epileptics. Some of the parts in the film were played by people of various ages who had been through the course, and the John Hopkins dietician was apparently played by herself. Well worth a watch, and I hope not too much off topic...

Yeah it's interesting to see that LCHF and keto diets have application beyond diabetes control.

I first became aware of this when I started to discuss my (then new) LCHF diet with my cousin about a year or so back. I was surprised at just how much she seemed to already know about the whole thing, considering that she is non diabetic. She does however suffer from epilepsy, and that was the connection, she'd previously practiced LCHF to help control it.
