Started on Tresiba 4 days ago changed from levimir as that’s is soon being discontinued

My problems started several months ago when my thyroid results were high. To cut a long story short, I had several thyroid results that were abnormal, over several months, the dr decided to try Levothyroxine, made my bs levels really high so I stopped taking. Dsn said I did the right thing as my results were borderline. Since then could not get my bs down. Dsn said let’s go back to basics, 1:10 on fiasp fast acting and stay at my normal level of levimir - 6 units at 6.30am. 4 units at 10.00pm. Mixed results, still high reading with some normal. Every now and then good numbers but would go high again

So let’s try changing to Tresiba. I know it takes 4 days to even out in system, taking 10 units at 6-6.30pm. Yesterday thought fantastic, had green numbers when I woke and my first hypo in months. Thought great finally getting back to normal

Was in the green(libre sensor) up to lunch then started going high again.

I’ve over thought so much I just can’t think logically any more, I just want to cry as I’m so worried about having high bs results. I don’t know if it’s too much insulin or not enough as I’m a little strange and do have problems with too much insulin in my system. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. And sorry this is so long

Definitely overthinking why are things so dire early in the morning [emoji[emoji6]].[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] now so thinking the Tresiba is not quite lasting will increase today and see how goes coz it’s long lasting it’s added confusion to my brain

First of all a big fat virtual hug. I use tresiba and novorapid. You need to be patient with the tresiba.
Don’t know how you think about your insulins and food and exercise. Insulin and exercise bring sugar level down, food, especially carbs push it up.
For me tresiba is my ‘background’ insulin, working away all day and it’s much better than whatever I was on before, which took a few hours to start working at all, then dribbled away..so I woke up high and think I had dawn phenomenon.
I was diagnosed and live in Norway, so some of the info I have been given seems to be shall we say different to that in the UK. Diagnosed at 68 I was told not to worry about going ‘high’ now and again as I wouldn’t be living long enough for it do any long term damage. Sobering thought!
I take my tresiba in the morning, that’s not a suggestion that you should change the timing of yours. As far as I understand Tresiba works in a steady line, but any changes to the dose take 2 or 3 days to take effect, if that make sense.
Am wondering if you are in a panic about all this you have stopped doing your regular exercise or whatever?
I have got a new phone with an activity app that is nagging me to do some steps each day, not many, but I can see it is having an effect on my levels and I can eat without taking novo rapid and still keep my numbers down.
For me going low is far more dangerous than going a bit high. At first diagnosis my DSN told me it was OK to eat breakfast without fast acting, as I was going to be walking a lot during the morning, and not to worry if I was 14/15. was on just finger pricks then so had no idea of what was going on in between tests.
I think the colour coding on the Libre read out can be a bit alarming. Best wishes, hope things settle down for you

Tresiba is definitely lasting as stays in your system 48 to 72 hours

You start rising from around 8:30 am.
So at what time do you get up, and what is your morning routine? Do you eat breakfast, drink something, is the rise related to food?

Then again a rise after noon. Can that one have anything to do with lunch?

Just a quick update, my bs has now improved and it has taken [emoji[emoji6]] days to reduce, so longer even out in my system, so a bit more than the recognised period, so now some fine tweaking as I’ve had a couple of hypos, but already a huge improvement on what it was, thanks again for all your support
