Hi all, just seen my diabetic nurse and spoke to her about waking up with high bg levels most mornings. She thinks my lantus is running out during the early hours and suggested swapping to Tresiba as it is longer lasting. I just wanted to hear people's experiences of it before I start taking it please

That well may be the case, or it could just be Dawn Phenomenon. In which case it won’t make any difference. The reason for your rise should be established first. Hard to do, but your insulin could be split first with a larger amount being injected in the evening.

I like my Tresiba but you may want to do some basal testing and seeing if you can work a way around it xx

I used to suffer similar as my background insulin only lasted about 16 hours

My partner has the same issue so has split her dose as we are considering having a baby so she can't have tresiba

I'm on tresiba now and it's much better. I still get some rise in the morning. But in general everything is more stable now

Moved from Lantus, because it wasn't lasting 24hours to Tresiba a while ago, it good, you can miss an injection with out having a devastating effect on things because it has a 72 hour window.

The only down side is that it can take a couple of days for any changes made to work into the system.
