This morning I was clicking around the TV, looking for something mindless to watch when I happened upon Trinny and Susannah, doing what they do in Australia. I'm pretty certain I'd hate someone to rock up to me in the street and tell me where I had lost my way in the dressing stakes, but I might like a couple of hours behind closed doors.

I've never done the personal shopper thing that some of the major stores do, but I've been thinking about it for a while. I could do with some new clothes and fancy getting the best bang for my buck, in terms of co-ordination, flexibility and minimising the shopping disasters we've all had.

Has anyone ever done the personal shopper thing, and how did it work out? And for a bit of fun, what was your greatest faux pas or “why did I ever buy that” purchase?

Come on girls, and boys, you know you want to. :)

I would rather go to the dentist than go clothes shopping  But my mum used a personal shopper a few years ago and found it useful. She tried on and bought clothes she wouldn't have otherwise considered. It was an eye opener for her. Go for it.

i always want to punch them, it's so not like me i don't know how to deal with the emotion, so i never watch them. some one who doesn't know you though would maybe tell the truth without fear of offending, but then they wouldn't know your lifestyle either

I agree to an extent, but I'm a great believer that you get out of these things what you put it. I'd expect to brief the shopper about what I would be looking for; for example, day-time smart wear, party frock, or holiday clothing. That said, I'd have to try to keep an open mind and consider any left field suggestions.

I may just do it. I think I'd probably get as much from sending them out for a different size, colour or whatever. I hate getting undressed and dressed several times before finding anything.
