TRT and high blood sugar

Hi everyone.

I am new to the website , and any type of Internet forum really.

I am a type 1 diabetic and have been for 11 years. Diagnosed at 27 and now 38.

I am currently on TRT ,” testosterone replacement injections “

Since starting the TRT my blood sugar are elevated, and it’s obviously making me feel unwell. The doctors don’t seem to understand why my blood sugars go high because there are many type 1 Diabetics who take TRT successfully and without any issue.

Please can someone help ? Have any of you had this issue ? I feel like I’m on my own.
So few a type 1 diabetics out there , especially ones on TRT.

I don't have experience with your particular issue but just wanted to post a greeting so that you know you are not alone. Looks like TRT gets lots of google hits in relation to T2 diabetes but am not finding much for T1s.

Maybe I'm asking a stupid question, but what happens if yo inject extra to cope with the highs? What are your doctors suggesting you do?

Testosterone does get an occasional mention on the forums, so hopefully you'll get a meaningful response from someone, but you may need to be patient.

It is so nice of you to respond.

It is also great to have access to people with type 1 diabetes after dealing with it alone for so long.

with regards to the TRT and high sugar. I have tried increasing my insulin , unfortunately it doesn’t work. What I found is I get my sugar swinging each way , so high hi s and low lows. Basically it’s unmanageable.

The TRT doctors haven’t been able to help , I guess they don’t have that much experience with type 1 s.
