Trying for strips

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I have developed a dose of cystitis. No idea why. NOT high BGs. However, after testing positive for it, the GP wants me to take some antibiotics. I dropped in to the surgery on my way past this morning expecting to pick up a prescription, which wasn't ready, so I left a request for some strips with the dispensary. I don't know what's going on at the health centre, It took about a dozen phone calls to get the results of the test and they phoned me to say the doctor wants me to take the antibiotics, but the computer showed nothing when I got there. Someone isn't logging information properly.
Surely If I have an infection, I should be allowed strips.
Fingers crossed everyone 8)

Having an infection is a good reason for having test strips and it is worrying if you can't get them when you have an infection. I have just seen this article today reporting the global clinical guidelines by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) which recommends self monitoring for non-insulin treated diabetes so perhaps you could quote this to your doctor.

Hope your infection clears up soon.

Hanadir,

I dont have problems myself but have heard of so many others on this forum that do getting test strips out of there PCT. Maybe its time someone who has the problem made a stand and considered getting MP involved to put pressure on there behalf or even failing that legal action against the PCT. They are a public body hence have to follow various rules and regulations including the human rights act. I couldnt donate much but if maybe someone wanted to take a stand to get some publicity on this issue I would be willing to give some money towards legal costs granted it wouldnt be a huge amount but if others do the same and possibly raise some money then this could be trashed out in court if that is what it needs.
