Hi, well done for being positive and checking your post meal sugars to see what foods you can eat. When I was first diagnosed 3 years ago I went on Metformin and a low carb diet (Atkins) and after 6 months my A1c was 34. I lost 20Kg and felt a lot better. Unfortunately after a couple of years I had to stop Metformin due to side effects, and my A1c went up to 38. I also found it a lot harder to lose weight and slowly gained 7Kg. But the fact that the A1c only went up by 4 points showed me that the main factor in reducing my A1c was the diet. The low carb diet I follow is quite strict and I aim for a 2 hour post-meal blood sugar of less than 6.6, which I could not achieve eating your diet, (and don't always achieve eating my diet if I cheat!). The only fruit I eat is berries buts lots of green vegetables supply the vitamins. But we are all different and you will find what you can eat when you do the post-meal tests. Good luck!
