Trying To Avoid Hypos.

Please forgive me if I have posted this before. I cant remember. I am now back on my Novorapid, which I much prefer to the previous insulin. I like working out my carbs and taking the required amount. But at night before bedtime, I sometimes like a small snack. If my readings show that my BG is between 4.0 and 6.0, should I have a small amount of insulin to cover the snack ( eg, oatcakes or toast ) or not bother? However, if I don't take insulin, my readings can be high in the mornings, but, if I do take insulin, I often have a hypo during the night.
I feel like I am on a knife edge at times. Any tips?

T2 4 x metformin, novorapid, Lantus. Started 2004.

Hi, yeah snacking later in evening does pose a little dilemma. ..personally i would skip any novo if just having something smalll and hope the levimir or whatever you take can handle it overnight. ...which mine usually does..get the odd high reading some mornings...hey ho!

Have you tried taking half your normal dose if you eat before going to bed?
It is not unusual for our bodies to have different insulin needs at different times of the day.
