Trying to understand...

Yeah, get exactly the same. When they have been high feel exhausted and want to sleep, when low get hot, feel weak and shaky. The latter is known as hypo warning symptoms and tell you to check your bloods and have something sugary if needed followed by a small long acting carb to sustain. because ive been stable for a period of time I usually get hypo symptoms when around 4.5. Always check first though if you are able as if you are coming down from an extreme high you may get hypo symptoms at much higher levels and do not sugar. If you think u r going to pass out have some sugar asap such as lucozade as liquid acts faster. You can always check after in these circumstances and give insulin if you were high.

Thanks Brett... I still haven't started to test regular as not a lover of needles and am trying the approach of going with how my body feels... So will be something to see what the numbers are like when I feel a bit high or low... Still coming to terms with it all and also wondering how to cut out most carbs!!! Seems so alien !!!!

No problem even now when I check p.m. sometimes surprised by the reasons as they are not always what I'd expect. I havnt cut out any carbs just adjusted ratios to suit using dafne. Have u heard of that, it was extremely useful to mr as it did not restrict my diet at all. I do stay away from high sugar food though unless hypo.

ok dave, on metformin should not cause a hypo so could well be your body just needs to adjust to lower levels ifc you have been high for a period of time. As for the highs u need to east a low gi diet to stop your sugar levels shooting up. I'm sure other type 2s will give you better advice as im type 1.
