I'm thinking of getting a second Glucolab meter to see how the readings compare. Has anyone got two meters the same and carried out a check?

Each meter may show a different reading, not by a huge amount, when machines are calibrated there is a % reading margin.

Morning.

All approved BG meters must adhere to an error margin. Even if you had two identical meters, the readings would unlikely be the same on two individual tests. Likewise, you'd be hard pushed to get two or more identical readings on the same meter from back to back tests.

It's always good to have a backup meter, but whether you could warrant forking out for the experiment is up to you. You might manage to get a free one though, manufacturers like to give them away because they know they'll get your revenue from buying the strips:)

I have different readings using the same meter with different fingers on the same hand.. nothing we can get is 100% accurate.

I think it is essential to have 2 meters, but one kept as a spare for emergencies. As @GrantGam1337 says, you will rarely get the same reading on back to back tests, with two meters or one meter, and this makes matters very confusing.

This I know! I think though it would be interesting to see if there is much discrepancy between two meters which are the same model. I know my backup meter, Accuchek Aviva gives be substantially lower readings - 2-3 points!

Hi,

If you are not satisfied with the readings on the Glucolab? Why not get a second Aviva..??
