She HATES eggs!! We've been through every variety.
Ketones are okay anything from 0.2-0.6.
Just concerned as it's the first time she's been ill since being diagnosed.
Hopefully it just lasts a few more days so we can both get some sleep!!
Yes, been in contact with them for the last few days. There just telling me to keep testing her every 2 hours, but as a parent I just want to do everything possible to get her better quickly.
So I've turned to her diet in the hope that plain foods will help settle her stomach which will settle her sugars hopefully.
Ginger biscuits are good for settling tummies, will she eat those?
Have you heard of the BRAT diet for upset tums? Banana, Rice, Apple sauce, Toast.
Good
Ok, well bland foods that work for me are things like toast, cream crackers, mainly carby things. I've also had jelly before because that went down well
I firmly believe that you should consult your Doctor or your daughters Diabetes Specialist Nurse if you have one appointed, my name is Brian I live in the United Kingdom, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 3 now 67, your little daughter will have a good life with care, if her Blood Glucose levels are high adjust insulin as advised, if low give her glucose to raise her Blood Glucose levels, don't panic get expert advice.Hi all I have a recently diagnosed type 1 two year old. She's got a really upset stomach at the moment and her sugars are anything between 2.7 and 23!! Can anyone suggest anything that I could do to help her sugars get a bit more settled? Tried her with 'plain' foods but they didn't go down well.
Thanks!
Please don't think that if her BG levels are high, it may not be related to what she has eaten, if Skye has a cough, cold, sore throat or any other condition anything can affect Blood Glucose levels, does Skye have insulin injections or an insulin pump ?I firmly believe that you should consult your Doctor or your daughters Diabetes Specialist Nurse if you have one appointed, my name is Brian I live in the United Kingdom, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 3 now 67, your little daughter will have a good life with care, if her Blood Glucose levels are high adjust insulin as advised, if low give her glucose to raise her Blood Glucose levels, don't panic get expert advice.

you are doing all that you can for Skye, light foods, plenty of liquid, it's a blessing that her ketones are low, very worrying for yourself, carry on persevering, from Brian. Thanks, been in contact with her nurse. I've got to test her every 2 hours, her ketones are never high if her sugars are. I'm pretty sure her sugars are everywhere because of her upset stomach. Just working towards getting her stomach back to normal.

Is she feeling any better today @Skye's_mummy ?
We always give our children chicken soup when they were ill or had a upset stomach, always made them feel better if nothing else.
Did the nurse mention to follow the type 1 Sick Day Rules, here's a handy flowchart explaining the rules:

No worries @Jaylee.After 13 years of being a mum to 2 girls and doing everything grandma taught me (the old fashioned way!) It's kind of hard to get used to having to treat regular illnesses with diabetes in mind.
