Good Afternoon.
My Brother has recently been diagnosed with Type 1.5 or Monogenic Diabetes, something which I had never heard of before. He stated that it's due to a rogue chromosome or something like that. There is a long family history of it on one side.
Since his diagnosis, I have had a blood test and my levels were ok.
I worry for my brother as he's lost over 3 stone in weight, gone from a solid 15.5 stone to about 12.5ish and he's currently suffering a lot with his legs and feet. He complains about the stiffness and burning sensations in his feet. He's trying all sorts of techniques, to try and ease it.
As he's newly been diagnosed, does the burning and stiffness go in time and will he put weight back on for him to live a normal life?
All I can think and worry about is hearing stories about people having their legs amputated from diabetes.
thanks
