Hi I tested 17 mmol when I awoke 9 am and ketones 0.2. Injected 4 units. Then at 10.44 it was 16.2 so injected another 1 unit. At 11.20 am I was hungry and it was 14.2 so injected 2 units for 12g carbs. It went down to 13.3 at 11.40 am then by 12.45 pm it was 10.9 mmol. At 2 pm I was 11.4 mmol ate 20g carbs and injected 3 units.
Now at 3.30 pm it is 15.7 mmol and just injected 1 more unit.
Never had it this high for as long - any advice appreciated

There could be a number of reasons why your levels are high. If you are unwell or stressed, this will raise your levels. However, if you feel ok (apart from the high blood sugar), I would be tempted to change my insulin pen or cartridge. As your levels are constantly riding, your basal may be more likely to be the culprit. However, when our levels get to double numbers, we experience insulin resistance. I need twice as much insulin to lower a high above 15.

When I am unwell, I increase my basal. However, the long flat profile of Tresiba means a change can take 3 of 4 days to take affect so it is not easy to adjust.

I would also recommend keeping a close eye on your ketones.

Thankyou I have used two different pens so don’t think it’s the novorapid cartridge but yes it’s taking time to come down, currently at 14. Thankyou so much for your insight re double numbers - no I’m not stressed just feeling yuk with these high numbers. Here’s hoping they go down soon as I was so looking forward to Sunday dinner but it is making me yuk and feel i darent eat.

I have just replaced the cartridge on my novorapid now and injected 2 mmol let’s hope you are right

When you're stacking insulin like this to bring levels down, you could suddenly drop into hypo territory, so make sure to keep a close eye on your levels for a few hours after your last correction dose, and have hypo treatment at hand.

Hope you get into single digits soon and feel better.

This happens to me and agree with all the advice above. I have found, as a "woman of a certain age" that actually my BG still spikes when it would normally be "hormone time". Am not sure if you are on a Libre or similar but they are great at identifying trends - if not, keeping a good diary of readings helps. Knowing that it is just part of a cycle helps and stops me getting stressed (which increases by BG even more).
Be kind to yourself as well - this is a long haul not a short sprint. Take care
