I have type 1 diabetes for nearly 60 years and now have a colitis problem that is affecting the control of my diabetes. I am finding it difficult to believe that I have to wait so long to see a consultant to resolve the problem up here in Cumbria. It's a complete nightmare. I have had two investigations the last one identified bleeding and inflammation of the sigmoid and transverse colon on 8 December. Told I would get an appointment to see the gastroenterologist but to date I have heard nothing. The lab results of the biopsies were negative so does that mean I have ischaemic colitis?
having had type 1 for so long some damage must have occurred to my body but when the hell is someone going to sort it out and treat it. I have had this gastric problem for nearly a year and no one seems to care.

Hi @cassie091
anyone reading your thread ( including me :) ) will care loads -- we all know what the "system" can do to us with regards appointments.

I would get on the phone tomorrow and chase the department direct , also leave a message with your GP explaining you haven't heard any news regarding an appointment.

just a separate well done on nearly 60 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
