Hi everyone
My mom just came home after 2 days in hospital fighting infection and high level glucose. but i don't understand why she wasn't treated with iv insulin to bring sugar down. I know being brittle tends to run her sugar all over the ranges, but today after being home she's still high 300's -mid 400"s. Any idea why doctors didn't think it necessary to bring level down before sending her home?

did you get your 'sick day' rules?
does your mum have a diabetic dr you can contact now ?
If normal Dr unavailable...I would go back to the hospital and get them to sort your mums blood glucose out..400 is far too high

for background information, not for you to act on...
they may say her basal /slow acting background dose is out, or her bolus quick acting with meals is out and may correct your mum's readings , (based on her insulin sensitivity factor, example page 19)

If it was my mum..with brittle..I'd go very low carb diet with a dr help.
it’s a long page and a few good video’s

For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. they don’t give up easy
