Hello all. I have lived with T1D for 36 years. I've met quite a few other T1Ds over the years, and the thing I've loved the most is sharing our experiences. Feeling seen.
I've thought for a long time about whether I could be a health coach for people with type 1. Some have remarked I'm a good listener.
But where would I actually start if I wanted to get into this? I have asked AI, of course, but your opinions are more valuable!
Hi,
From my personal real life experience with other T1s. (Played in a few bands in my time & 3 bands had 2 T1s & a T2.)
Every now & then one pops up in the wild too?
Now I have T1 experience & my focus is music.
My personal “experience” is spotting the other guy’s hypo.
Support? Slide some fast acting carbs silently in thier direction, suggest candidly the meter. & “moonwalk” in the opposite direction..
May sound like a weird response..
But you might want to look into some sort of HCP qualification in the field first? (To support & balance the decades of the personal.)

Where to start?
I wouldn't and couldn't as there are too many variables.
I’ve often felt same - T1 since 1988 and sometimes think I would like to help others which I guess comes from many years experience of good control but often a feeling of isolation.
I also live in Somerset (Wsm), but don’t have any friends who are Type 1 and thus have little to no clue about the daily life of T1 and its pitfalls.
I had a T1 personal trainer when I lived in Sydney. (My partner and I joined the gym and when we said I was T1 and we wanted a personal trainer they referred us to him.) He had actually advertised all over the place to try to get diabetic clients (T2 as well as T1) but had had very little success. It was great because he always understood when I went hypo or thought I might be hypo....
