Type 1 cure 'in less than 2 years'

ive been trying to find out more about this is .i read that this cure is only for newly diagnosed people is that right.and that they havent yet started to find a cure for long time sufferers.

i read that link but im only new to this our daughter was dignosed in oct of last year.
did i read it correctly this cure is only for the newly diagnosed

yeah it is for newly diagnosed 'honeymooners' but it may work for long-termers too. they're not sure if our cells can re-produce yet or not whereas the 'honeymooners' probably would. but as i said it's defo a half-step cos hopefully they can just give us some islet cells after and our immune system won't re-attack them. sounds easy lol. these newspaper articles are based on truth but they're selective with their statistics sometimes.

all best,
howie

Maybe there's substance to the theory of constant beta cell regeneration/immune system reaction? Might explain why even long term diabetics occasionally have totally unexplained hypos/hypers despite all best and technological efforts to maintain good numbers.

The whole stem cell/immune system area is fascinating. I read last year of organ transplants where at the same time as receiving a new kidney/whatever, the patient also had new bone marrow installed. All carefully timed and sequenced of course, but the new immune system that developed post-op was a hybrid of old and new, and months later said patients still did not need immuno-suppressants. Very exciting stuff.
